For the record, cloudy and rainy Barcelona isn’t getting any worse and there is plenty of things to do besides sitting on the beach and wandering around. Here are some tips on how to have a great time in Barcelona on a rainy day.
Bars, cafeterias, restaurants
Of course, the oldest and (whom we’re trying to cheat here) the best method of avoiding nasty weather is visiting a good place with tasty cocktails or typical Catalan beverages, like vermouth for example.
There are lots of special places called “Vermuteria” or you can order a glass of “Vermut de la casa” in any bar, they usually serve it with a slice of orange and olives. By the way, we’ve prepared some suggestions on this matter, take a look at our Top Vermouth bars in Barcelona post.
Never mind if you’ve never liked Vermouths because we have some great suggestions on Tapas bars and restaurants where you’d find peace not only for your eyes and soul but also for your hungry stomach.
Hop-on Hop-off bus from Plaça Catalunya
One of the most popular tourist entertainments is to take a red double-deck bus around Barcelona and see the whole city sitting upstairs.
But if during a hot sunny day the trip is quite exhausting due to the temperature, on a cloudy day it’s fresh and they put a tent in case of rain.
It’s a great opportunity to see the city at once and from a different perspective. Check our additional services page and book this tour without any hidden commissions.
Barcelona is a European capital of contemporary art. There are lots of famous museums (for example, MACBA, CCCB, MNAC, Picasso museum, El Born CC) and hundreds of small private galleries. Moreover, almost every month different performances and cultural events are held in Barcelona.
Again, you could buy the ticket for the museum of your choice on our additional services page we’d already mentioned. Sagrada Familia is much better when you avoid huge lines at the entrance.
Even if you are not sure you can understand Spanish well, in Barcelona you can find movies in English, French or German or at least subtitled versions.
Here are some original language VO cinemas: Phenomena, Melies, Girona, Filmoteca de Catalunya, Renoir Floridablanca, Renoir Les Corts, Yelmo Icaria.
Pick the movie and relax in a comfortable chair with a basket of popcorn. What could be more tempting?
Barcelona is full of big and small shops with world brands or some Catalan design. There are some streets which names sound familiar to any local mod.
On Portal dels Angels you will find all Spanish and international brands of clothes, street Tallers will bring you into the world of vintage shops and Rambla de Catalunya or Passeig de Gracia will offer you luxury and chic things!
Or take the bus and on to La Roca Village where you’d find it all.
And if it suddenly stopped raining, why not to take advantage of the weather and try to have some fun while exploring the secret details and spots of Barcelona.
Stroll through Las Ramblas and find the dragon, find Roman Wall remains and beautiful Plaza Neri.
